Designed by the architect Piero Lissoni in 2008, its form was influenced by traditional Middle Eastern seating of the Majlis, a culturally important low-rise cushioned space designed for social gatherings. A contemporary version of this centuries-old tradition, Extrasoft delivers compositions of soft geometric blocks to create a low and undulating upholstered landscape with abstract expression. Stripped of all non-essential elements and possessing beautifully subtle details, its cosy seats can be placed next to one another in various configurations. Now designed for the outdoors too, Extrasoft is a modern classic that allows flexibility and personalisation, advancing the great history of Italian sofa design.
